In this modern day Romeo and Juliet, Jet Li plays Romeo to hip-hop singer, Aaliyah Haughton's Juliet. Li is tough ex-cop Han Sung who travels from Hong Kong to America to find justice for his brother, who was murdered in an ongoing battle between Chinese and African-American gangs. When he meets the daughter of the American mob boss, the two fall in love. Neither side approves of their romance, so Han Sung takes his brothers place in the war and becomes entangled in the violence.
