In the trailer for Mary Shelley, Mary Godwin (Elle Fanning) says she often feels frustrated because she's no closer to achieving her dreams. She meets the beautiful poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (Douglas Booth), who falls for the teenager. He asks her to run away with him. Mary's stepmother asks if she's involved with "that whoremonger," but Mary doesn't care. She's in love with him and will not be stopped. Mary goes to a demonstration that suggests one day the dead could come back to life. It gives her the germ of an idea for a novel, which becomes her classic book, Frankenstein.
