Elena Richardson (Reese Witherspoon) watches in horror as her beautiful home burns, while the police tell her the fire was set intentionally, with her inside. We discover that she rented the second home she owns with her husband to a single woman with daughter, then asks the woman to work in her house, without having checked her references.
