Lucy (Spears), Kit (Saldana) and Mimi (Manning) were childhood best friends, but they drifted apart as they grew up into three very different girls.

When Mimi decides to follow her dream to cross the country with her new friend Ben (Mount), Kit agrees to go along. And Lucy, who hopes the trip will lead her to her estranged mother (Cattrall), decides to join them.

Along the way, they rediscover their friendship, share experiences that will change their lives forever, and realize the importance of holding onto their hearts' desires.
