Laika's first miss. Only the bratty girl and the two philosophical henchmen provide any real substance in a ho-hum film about tolerance of those who are different.
The art-tech to make this movie is amazing. Every single movement and expression had to be done by hand. I can't even guess how many thousands of hours it took. The bad guy wasn't that scarey. He was too over the top and unrealistic to be seriously scarey.
It wasn't supposed to be a comedy. It's an animated mystery/drama with a lot of good messages. The whole town falls for a lie and fears the wrong "people". There's the father who doesn't have time for his daughter and the rich daughter who befriends the poor boy who learns how to be a hero.
Boring and not worth the money. Took 4 children between the ages of 7-14. Very few laughs and dialogue hard to follow.
This movie wasn't funny or entertaining on any level. And how it got a G rating I do not know because the bad guy scarry for little children. It was a waste of good money!!
Loved this movie!
