Love it!
Great movie, more than ever important, where a kid is determined enough to follow his dreams despite violating the expectations of the society and common gender stereotyping at the time.
Couldn’t agree more …
Are you kidding me? 20+ years later, this remains one of the most memorable coming-of-age movies. A sensitive kid growing up in a rough mid-1980’s mining community that is getting crushed by Maggie Thatcher’s politics, defying all expectations what a boy is supposed to be like, feeling drawn to ballet and following his dream determined (but equally scared) - what more "conflict" can you ask for? A perfect reflection of the time, with the tough but constructive relationship between Billy and his teacher Mrs. Wilkinson, along with the evolution of his father and brother, a great story overall, combined with great acting!
Appealing performances can't hide the fact that this is a very dull story with almost no conflict to speak of. Between this film, THE QUEEN, and THE KING'S SPEECH one may be forgiven for thinking that Britain is a land where nothing actually dramatic ever happens. Apparently modern British filmmakers are unaware how essential conflict is to storytelling.
Excellent acting, directing by Daltry and Jamie Bell was also incredible as a young dancer as well as Adam Cooper. Loved his father in this movie as well. Loved this movie
An emotional epic! Truly inspirational. P.S Jamie Bell is well fit!!
I thought the film was a dynamic masterpiece
AMAZINGGGG-I LOVE YOU BILLY
It`s simply the best. I`ve seen it about 51 times and I know it backwards but it still entertains me.
