TATIANA MASLANY

Date of Birth: September 22, 1985

A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Tatiana Maslany has stayed true to her Canadian roots throughout her career, appearing in many Canadian-made or based TV shows.

Breaking out as Rome Greyson on 2030 CE in 2002, Tatiana quickly made her debut film appearance in Ginger Snaps: Unleashed (2004), for which she won a Chainsaw Award for Best Supporting Actress. She then went on to appear in a variety of TV movies, including Trapped!, Booky Makes Her Mark (in which she played a young teen at the age of 21) and Stir of Echoes: The Homecoming. Along the way she also appeared on the big screen in films such as The Messengers (2007) and Diary of the Dead (2007).

Tatiana returned to Canadian television with her role as Zeppelin on Instant Star and also a guest role as Penny on Flashpoint, for which she won a Gemini Award for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Guest Role, Dramatic Series." Her other television credits include a recurring role as teen rodeo rider Kit Bailey on Heartland, as well as recurring roles on Being Erica and World Without End.

Her frequent television appearances have not stopped Tatiana from appearing in her fair share of movies, lending her talents to Hardwired (2009) alongside Val Kilmer and Cuba Gooding Jr., The Entitled (2011) with Victor Garber and Ray Liotta and The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. For her role in Grown Up Movie Star, in which, at the age of 24, she played a 13-year-old girl, Tatiana received a Genie Award nomination for Leading Actress and won a Special Jury Prize for her "Breakout Performance" at the Sundance Film Festival.

Tatiana followed that up with Picture Day (2012), which screened at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival, where she was also named one of four TIFF "Rising Stars." She also starred in Cas & Dylan (2014) alongside Richard Dreyfuss, Woman in Gold (2015) playing the younger version of Helen Mirren's character, Two Lovers and a Bear (2016) alongside Dane DeHaan and Stronger (2017) with Jake Gyllenhaal.

It was when she played the starring role in the Space series Orphan Black, however, that she became known in Hollywood. She not only played the lead, a British woman named Sarah who finds out she is one of a number of clones, but all of the clones, as well. For her work on the series, which concluded in 2017, she won an Emmy award, five Canadian Screen Awards in a row (one each year the show was on) and received a Golden Globe award nomination. In 2017 she also won a Canadian Screen Award for her work in the feature film The Other Half (2016).

Since the series ended, she played roles in the crime film Destroyer (2018) starring Nicole Kidman and Tom Cullen's drama Pink Wall (2019). She also plays Sister Alice on the new HBO series, Perry Mason (2020).

As for her love life, in 2011 Tatiana met her boyfriend, Welsh actor Tom Cullen, when they both had roles on the Channel 4 mini-series World Without End.
