Stefania LaVie Owen was born in Miami, Florida, but moved to New Zealand when she was four. She attended a private school near Wellington and was involved in many school productions and dance classes.

Stefania began acting professionally when she was cast in Peter Jackson’s supernatural drama The Lovely Bones (2009) as Flora Hernandez. She acted alongside a star-studded lineup that included Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Stanley Tucci, and Saorise Ronan.

After The Lovely Bones, Stefania landed a role on the FX/Fox comedy series Running Wilde (2010-2011), which was filmed in Vancouver. She went on to play Carrie's rebellious little sister on The Carrie Diaries (2013-2014).

Stefania also appeared in the Christmas horror film Krampus (2015) as Beth and in Coming Through the Rye (2015), a coming-of-age drama film. Stefania played Deedee and won the Rising Star Award at the Coronado Island Film Festival for her performance in the movie.

Stefania continued to make appearances on television and in movies throughout the last few years. She played Heather in The Beach Bum (2019) alongside Matthew McConaughey, Isla Fisher, and Zac Efron. She also starred in Messiah (2020), a television thriller that premiered on Netflix.

In 2020, Stefania earned a leading role in the drama film Paper Spiders. She and her castmates won the award for Best Ensemble Cast at the Boston Film Festival in 2020.

In 2021, Stefania played the role of Bear in Sweet Tooth, a fantasy series streaming on Netflix.

Stefania, who has dual U.S. and New Zealand citizenship, splits her time between New York City and Wellington. ~Cassandra Coleman
