ROB BROWN

Born in Harlem and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Rob Brown auditioned to be an extra in Finding Forrester (2000), to make money to pay off his cell phone bill.

Director Gus Van Sant noticed 15-year-old Brown and asked him to audition for a speaking role. Not only did the teen win a part—he was cast in the starring role, playing opposite screen legend Sean Connery. For his film debut, Brown won a 2001 Young Artist Award, a Special Achievement Award for Outstanding New Talent at the 2001 Satellite Awards and a 2000 Sierra Award for Best Male Newcomer.

Brown concentrated on finishing high school before taking on his next role, as Tye in the independent drama The Orphan King (2005), opposite Alexis Bledel. A talented athlete, he next played a football player in Coach Carter (2005), starring Samuel L. Jackson. Brown learned to dance for Take the Lead (2006), starring Antonio Banderas and filmed in Toronto. He most recently starred in Don Jon(2013).

When he's not working, Brown attends Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball.
