Nathaniel Parker was born in London, England, and is the youngest child of Sir Peter Parker, a former chairman of British Rail, and mother Jill.

Growing up in London, Nathaniel attended Fox Primary School, Colet Court, and Leighton Park School. He then graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art as the star pupil of the year.

His first appearance onstage was in 1981 with the National Youth Theater, playing the title role in the Shakespearean drama, Richard III.

Nathaniel later joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1986, where he performed in productions such as The Kiss, The Winter’s Tale, Every Man is His Humour, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Before making the move from the stage to the big screen, Nathaniel played Bassanio in the London and Broadway productions of The Merchant of Venice, starring alongside Dustin Hoffman.

After leaving the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1987, Nathaniel went on to make his film debut in the movie War Requiem (1989), playing poet Wilfred Owen.

In 1988, Nathaniel made his television debut on the show Piece of Cake (1988), playing the part of Flying Officer "Flash" Gordon.

In 2001, he was cast as the title character Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley on the BBC1 series Inspector Lynley Mysteries (2001-2007). The show ran for six seasons, and became what many people consider to be his most well-known role.

In 2011, Nathaniel appeared on the fourth season of the show Merlin (2011), playing Agravaine de Bois. The show was nominated for a number of awards during its run time, winning a BAFTA TV Award for Best Visual Effects in 2011.

His most recent film project, The Last Duel (2021), has him playing Sir Robert D'Thibouville alongside actors such as Ben Affleck, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, and Matt Damon.

Nathaniel has also done voiceover work, and audiobooks such as Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl series, Charlie Higson's Young James Bond series, and The Gardens of The Dead by William Brodrick. He has also done voice work for video games such as The Witcher, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, and Dreamfall Chapters.

Nathaniel has been married to Anna Patrick since 1992. The two live in Gloucestershire with their two daughters, Angelica and Raphaella.

Nathaniel has three older siblings: Alan, Lucy, and Oliver, who is a film director and actor.

In his free time, Nathaniel enjoys reading books. He enjoys horseback riding and has a horse named Jellybean. ~Sean Olegario
