MILLA JOVOVICH

Date of Birth: December 17, 1975

Milla Jovovich was born in Kiev, Ukraine. Her family emigrated to the United States when she was five, temporarily settled in Sacramento, California and then relocated to Los Angeles, where she began modeling. Her mother, a Russian stage actress, became her manager. At age 12, she was on the cover of the Italian fashion magazine Lei and by the time she was in her early teens, she was a supermodel, often appearing in scantily clad poses like child model Brooke Shields before her, for which she received bad press, as the media and public associated her with child pornography, prepubescent supermodels and eating disorders.

Her first acting role came in the Disney TV movie The Night Train to Kathmandu (1988). Unconcerned about the bad press she received for her modeling shots, she took on a scantily clad and sexy role similar to Brooke Shields' role in Blue Lagoon, in the sequel, Return to Blue Lagoon (1991).

In October 1992, at the age of 16, she married fellow actor Shawn Andrews, her co-star from the film Dazed and Confused (1992). The marriage quickly ended, lasting just over a month before it was annulled.

Having placed a solid grip on the modeling and film industry, Milla set out to conquer the pop music realm and in 1994 she cut her first album, The Divine Comedy.

Since her appearance in The Fifth Element (1997) as the orange-haired supreme being, her place in the film world seemed to be looking up. She played Joan in Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999), Zoolander (2001), Resident Evil (2002) and its five sequels, as well as playing a role in Rob Reiner's political drama, Shock and Awe (2018).

In 1997, Milla and director Luc Besson, 16 years her senior, were married. Another relationship gone bad, this union only lasted two years. In March 2003, she announced her engagement to Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson, only 10 years her senior. Their daughter, Ever Anderson, was born on November 3, 2007 and they were married in August, 2009. A second daughter, Dashiel Edan, was born on April 1, 2015.
