Date of Birth: 1966

German-born director Mennan Yapo's first American film was the thriller Premonition (2007), starring Sandra Bullock.

The son of Turkish parents, he began working in film at the age of 20, as a marketer for film distributors. He began writing screenplays in 1995, and produced several shorts. He also appeared in the feature film The Pillow Book (1996) and Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) as an actor.

His short film, Framed (1999) was nominated for a German Short Film Award, while his first full length feature, Lautlos (2004), was an official AFI Film Festival selection and won the Platinum Award at WorldFest Houston as well as the Special Jury Prize at the 2005 Cognac Festival du Film Policier.

Next, he's been tapped to direct the political thriller The Ambassador (2008) for Universal.
