LUKE WILSON

Date of Birth: September 21, 1971

Luke Wilson and his brothers Owen and Andrew grew up in Dallas, Texas. All three were interested in the art of acting, but it wasn't until college that Wilson took a serious interest. He went to Occidental College and focused most of his energy onthe school's athletic department, specifically, track and field. Eventually, Wilson gave up sports after attending a theater course, and was inspired by the plays of Sam Shepard.

Wilson pretty much owes his film career to brother Owen. While attending the University of Texas, Owen decided to make a film with his friend and schoolmate, Wes Anderson, and they cast Luke in it. The trio collaborated on Bottle Rocket (1994), and indie sensation, which launched their careers.

Luke continued to work with the two, and in their collaboration, Rushmore, he played a young doctor who gets caught up in a very awkward dinner party and ends up on the receiving end of the jealous anger of Max Fischer.

Luke Wilson has continued to work steadily since, earning praise for his role opposite Drew Barrymore in Home Fries (1998). He has also appeared opposite Martin Lawrence in the comedy Blue Streak (1999), The Third Wheel (2000) with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and in Charlie's Angels (2000), with Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz. He played Reese Witherspoon's boyfriend in the huge box office hit Legally Blonde (2001), then starred opposite Kate Hudson in the Rob Reiner directed-comedy Alex & Emma (2003).

He took a supporting role opposite Christian Bale and Russell Crowe in the western 3:10 to Yuma (2007) and though he played the title role in the heartwarming film Henry Poole is Here (2008), it unfortunately only had a limited release. He joined a huge cast of name actors in the comedy Death at a Funeral (2010).

Following Death at a Funeral, Luke appeared in the series Enlightened between 2011 and 2013, shared the screen with Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader in The Skeleton Twins (2014), worked with Chris Evans and Michelle Monaghan in the romcom Playing It Cool (2014), and acted in Helen Hunt's film Ride (2014).

He appeared in the Golden Globe-nominated drama Concussion (2015) with Will Smith, the drama All We Had (2016) with Katie Holmes, the animated film Rock Dog (2017) with Eddie Izzard and J.K. Simmons, and Brad's Status (2017) with Ben Stiller.

More recently, he played the father of Oakes Fegley's character in The Goldfinch (2019).
