Kravitz himself has also made his silver screen debut in 2009, in the Academy Award-nominated film Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire.

In 2012, Kravitz once again had a supporting role in another film adapted from a book. This time he took on the role of Cinna in The Hunger Games, based on the book series by Suzanne Collins. His most recent film is Lee Daniels' The Butler (2013) where he starred alongside Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey.

Kravitz's daughter Zoe is also an actress. In 2011, Zoe had a memorable role as the winged-mutant Angel in X-Men: First Class.
