Justin Chatwin Biography

Date of Birth: October 31, 1982

Born in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Justin Chatwin studied commerce at the University of British Columbia and in his spare time, took acting lessons. His first role was a bit part as a teenage fan in the motion picture Josie and the Pussycats (2001). The same year, Justin made guest appearances on Smallville and Mysterious Ways, and won the part of John Spencer in the TV miniseries Christy: A Change of Seasons and Christy: A New Beginning.

The following year, he was chosen to play Clauson in Steven Spielberg's acclaimed miniseries Taken (2002), starring Dakota Fanning. Justin then played a supporting role in the TV movie The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie (2003) starring Gena Rowlands. After taking on a role in the USA network miniseries, Traffic (2004), Chatwin was named by Newsweek as one of their young stars on the rise. Ironically, he then played supporting roles in Taking Lives with Angelina Jolie and in SuperBabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004) with Jon Voight, Jolie's father. In April 2004, he filmed The Chumscrubber (2005), playing a high school drug dealer opposite Glenn Close.

Chatwin's big break came when he again had the chance to work with Spielberg and Fanning as Tom Cruise's son in the blockbuster feature War of the Worlds (2005). Following this, he starred in movies like Middle of Nowhere (2008), Dragonball: Evolution (2009), and Bang Bang Baby (2014).

The year 2016 was a busy one for Chatwin, who was featured in a total of seven films: No Stranger Than Love, Urge, We Don't Belong Here, The Scent of Rain and Lightning, One Night, and Unleashed.
