JULIETA CARDINALI

Date of Birth: October 21, 1977

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Julieta Cardinali's early ambition was to be a ballerina. When she realized her dream wasn't going to work out, she began taking acting lessons and at 13, was cast on the popular children's show, El Show de Xuxa. When she was 17 years old, Julieta landed a regular role on the popular soap opera Montaña rusa, otra vuelta and skyrocketed to stardom in her native Argentina. Next, she played Melina on the comedy series Como pan caliente, followed by roles on Lo dijo Papá, Socios y más and Verano del '98 (playing a teenage mother), which ran from 1998 to 2000.

The veteran of six TV series at only 22, Cardinali made her big screen debut playing a supporting role in writer/director Alejandro Agresti's Una noche con Sabrina Love (A Night with Sabrina Love), for which she received a Best New Actress nomination from the Argentinian Film Critics Association. She returned to television in 2001 with four more series over the next two years. When Agresti asked her to play the kind, beautiful Leticia opposite a precocious seven-year-old boy in his semi-autobiographical film Valentin, she jumped at the chance. Her performance was met with acclaim from critics around the world, and she also received a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 2004 Argentinian Film Critics Association Awards.

Cardinali followed up this success with a starring role in Agresti's futuristic thriller, El Nominado (2004), about contestants on a reality TV show that has deadly consequences when one of the participants refuses to leave after he's voted off.

In her spare time, Julieta enjoys reading and horseback riding. Her dream is to one day travel to the moon.
