JESSICA CAPSHAW

Date of Birth: August 9, 1976

Inspired by her mother, actress Kate Capshaw, Jessica dreamed of acting from childhood but decided to wait until graduating from Brown University before pursuing a career.

Not only the daughter of Kate, Jessica is also the step-daughter of director Steven Spielberg. She was born in Columbia, Missouri where both parents were students at the University of Missouri. The family moved to New York to pursue her mother's modeling career. When she was three, her parents divorced and she got drawn along in her mother's "new world." Her mother married Spielberg when Jessica was 15.

During her university years, she gained a considerable amount of experience on stage. Summers were spent studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London where she starred as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream. At Brown she starred in university productions of Arcadia and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

After graduating with an English degree, Jessica landed her first acting role in the feature film The Locusts (1997), opposite Vince Vaughn. She then went into a couple of independent features before trying out television in a series called Odd Man Out.

Jessica returned to film the following year completing the indie-film Killing Cinderella (2000) and the horror flick Valentine (2001).
