Janusz Kaminski
JANUSZ KAMINSKI Date of Birth: June 27, 1959 A native to Ziembice, Poland, Kaminski came to the United States in 1981. He studied cinematography at Columbia College in Chicago, and received his B.A. in 1987. Kaminiski relocated to Los Angeles, where he became a cinematography fellow at the American Film Institute, and began his professional career on the feature film Fallen Angel. He also lensed two television projects, Class of '61 and the acclaimed cable movie, Wildflower. Throughout the 90s, Kaminski worked in feature films as a director of photography. He continues to work extensively with director Steven Spielberg and has won awards for his work on those films, including a BAFTA for Schindler's List (1993) and an Oscar for Saving Private Ryan (1998). Kaminski's other films include The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1993), How to Make an American Quilt (1995) and Jerry Maguire (1996). Kaminski's directorial debut is the psychological thriller Lost Souls, starring Winona Ryder and Ben Chaplin. For his next projects Kaminski will wear the DP hat once again to team with Spielberg for the Sci-fi films A.I.(2001) and Minority Report (2002).
