GREGORY DARK

Date of Birth: July 12, 1957

Born Gregory Hippolyte Brown in Los Angeles, Gregory Dark holds both an MFA degree from Stanford University and a Graduate degree in film from NYU. His career began as a fine artist with conceptual art shows at many New York galleries. His early paintings are owned by both the Whitney Museum in New York and Stanford's Art Museum.

During the mid-1980s and 1990s, Dark became well known as a director of pornographic films and in that capacity, won Best Director in 1987 from the X-Rated Critics' Organization. In the late 1990s, he made the transition to music videos, working with artists such as Britney Spears, Mandy Moore, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Outkast, Linkin Park, Korn and Sublime.

He directed his first major motion picture, See No Evil (2006), for Lions Gate Entertainment.
