Date of Birth: May 1, 1987

Emilia Clarke was born in London, England. Her father worked as a theater sound engineer and when her mother brought three-year-old Emilia to see a production of the musical Show Boat that he’d worked on, it sparked her interest in acting. Growing up, Emilia attended both the co-ed boarding school St. Edward’s and the all-girls Catholic boarding school Rye St Anthony, both in Oxford. She graduated from the Drama Center London in 2009.

Emilia performed in two plays during her years at St. Edward’s and an impressive 10 plays while attending the Drama Center in London. She launched her television career in 2009 on an episode of the show Doctors and she appeared in the 2010 TV film Triassic Attack as Savannah Roundtree. Her big break came in 2010 when she was cast as dragon queen Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO hit drama Game of Thrones. Since then, the show has gone on to become a huge success with critics and fans alike. Emilia was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 2013 Emmy Awards. She was also voted AskMen’s Most Desirable Woman of 2014.

Emilia enjoyed a brief acting role on Broadway in 2013 as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She starred in Dom Hemingway (2014) and Terminator: Genesys (2015), before teaming up with Sam Claflin for the romantic drama Me Before You (2016).

She then played the key role of Qi’ra alongside Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo in the blockbuster film Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). Since Game of Thrones came to an end in 2019, Emilia played a starring role opposite Henry Golding in the romantic comedy, Last Christmas (2019).
