While living in Albany, Oregon, she won the role of Lilo in the animated film Lilo & Stitch when she was only eight years old. She and her family moved to Los Angeles for the job, where she began recording the voice in 1998. While there, she immediately started landing roles such as Michael Landon's daughter Shawna in the telefilm, Michael Landon, The Father I Knew (1999). In 1999, the little girl, who began her career singing country songs, opened for Reba McEntire at the Oregon Jamboree.

In 2002, the two films she had done voice work on had their North American releases. Lilo & Stitch opened and was an immediate success at the box office. As well, Chase had recorded the voice of the lead character, Chihiro in Miyazaki's Spirited Away. Later that year, she landed a role as a series regular on the new FOX TV series, Oliver Beene, playing Oliver's friend, Jennifer. She also played a major role in the thriller, The Ring (2002), as Samara Morgan, the girl who holds the key to the mystery.

Daveigh was invited to sing the National Anthem at the 2002 American Veteran Awards, which she did a cappella. She also closed the awards with a rendition of God Bless America.
