CRISTIN MILIOTI

Date of Birth: August 16, 1985

Born in New Jersey, Cristin Milioti discovered her love for performing in high school at Cherry Hill High School East. She would spend most of her time as a theater geek, acting in school plays and singing with jazz and rock bands.

Cristin embarked on her acting career by attending NYU's Tisch School for the Arts. She dropped out after her freshman year, feeling like acting school was just not for her, telling Rolling Stone, "There was this desire to, for a lack of a better word, pigeonhole me from day one. I’ve always wanted to do odd, offbeat, dark things … I’ve always wanted to play characters, and they were always telling me I couldn’t. That I would never get cast in anything like that." She now joins the list of other famous NYU drop-outs such as Angelina Jolie, Idina Menzel, and Lady Gaga.

She has worked extensively on Broadway in productions such as Coram Boy and The Lieutenant of Inishmore. Off-Broadway starring roles include Crooked and The Devil's Disciple.

She made her big screen debut in the film Greetings from the Shore (2007), in the role of Didi.

Her work on the musical Once (2011), in which she played Girl, earned the project a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, and was also nominated for Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. The musical ran until 2015. Despite what her teachers at NYU told her during her freshman year, Cristin's success on the stage brought along a number of acting opportunities her way.

On the small screen, Cristin had a recurring role on The Sopranos for the final two seasons of the series, playing Johnny Sacramoni's daughter, Catherine.

In 2013, Cristin started to become a household name, playing Tracey McConell, The Mother, on How I Met Your Mother. She first appeared on the season 8 finale, and later became a regular on the ninth season and final season.

Other television appearances include Black Mirror (2017), playing Nanette Cole in the episode "USS Callister," Fargo (2015), playing Betsy Solverson, and most recently, the Amazon Prime Video series Made for Love (2021), playing the starring role of Hazel Green opposite Ray Romano and Billy Magnussen.

Other feature work includes appearing alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), playing Teresa Petrillo Belfort. Her work as Teresa ultimately helped her land the lead role of Girl in Once.

She played Sarah Wilder in Palm Springs (2020) opposite Andy Samberg and the film earned critical acclaim. Cristin herself earned a number of awards, including the Critics Choice Super Award for Best Actress in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie and the Hollywood Critics Association Award for Breakthrough Performance - Actress.

Acting is not the only artistic passion Cristin pursues, as singing has always been a huge part of her life, carrying over into her theater experience. In 2018, she was featured on the Boots album #DARKDAZE alongside hip-hop group, Run the Jewels. ~Sean Olegario
