Born in Staten Island, New York, Christina Aguilera wanted to be a singer from a very young age. In 1993, Aguilera was chosen to be a Mouseketeer in The Mickey Mouse Club, the same year Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake joined the cast. Prior to The Mickey Mouse Club, in 1990, at the age of nine, Christina appeared on national television as a contestant on the show, Star Search. After that, she became known for singing the national anthem in her hometown of Pittsburgh at baseball, hockey and football games. At 18, Christina released her breakthrough hit, "Genie in a Bottle" from her self-titled debut album.

After her initial success, Christina earned several music awards including a Grammy, two MTV Music Video Awards and two VH1 Awards. Citing her influences as Whitney Houston, Etta James and other strong-voiced musicians, Christina dominated the pop scene in 1999 and into the early millennium. She also released a Spanish album entitled "Mi Reflejo."

The songstress with Ecuadorian-Irish roots has one son with Jordan Bratman. Bratman and Christina announced their separation on October 12, 2010 after five years of marriage. She later married guitarist Matthew Rutler, with whom she has a daughter, Summer Rain.

Christina was initially offered the role of Stephanie Necrophuros in Nine (2009) but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts and the release of her new album. She made her starring feature film debut in Burlesque alongside Cher, playing a small town Iowa girl looking to escape her past by working as a waitress at a burlesque lounge. Prior to this role, Christina's acting experience came from doing cameos in TV shows such as Entourage and in the 2010 movie Get Him to the Greek. She also provided the voice of Akiko Glitter in The Emoji Movie. (2017)
