World Revolution (Weltrevolution)

As founded by Stefan Weber, the Austrian experimental rock group Drahdiwaberl formed in 1969 in response to the European political revolutions of 1968. The ensemble quickly became notorious for its over-the-top stage shows, in which they weren't above shocking the audience by wielding and shooting off firearms, having graphic onstage sex, and partaking in other outrageous public acts. Over the years, Drahdiwaberl also retained an extreme leftwing political bent, influenced heavily by Weber's readings of Marx and Lenin during his youth. Incredibly, time and age only rendered the ensemble more extreme and stringent in their anti-social attitudes, as the years passed and the musicians continually found new injustices and forms of authority to rebel against - bucking politics, religion and traditional values. Documentarist Klaus Hundsbichler's Worldrevolution etches out a portrait of Drahdiwaberl over the course of its first 40 years, blending archival footage with reflective commentary by Weber and the other musicians.
