Volcano

A newly retired school superintendant in Reykjavik, Hannes, 67, is by nature solitary, selfish and aloof. This has alienated the affections of his two adult children, whose visits to the family home are primarily to see their beloved mother, Anna. Despite her husband’s often obnoxious behavior, Anna still loves Hannes, who longs for the village they had to leave in their younger years as a result of volcanic eruptions.

When Anna suffers a stroke, Hannes decides to care for her at home, despite the objections of his children, who want her to be looked after in a hospital by professional medical staff.
