Triptych

Michelle, released from a psychiatric hospital, is escorted home by a social worker into the care of her sister, Marie, on the condition she take her drugs. Michelle returns to her job in a used book store, where she finds solace in books of poetry. Marie, a jazz singer who recently recovered from brain surgery, is dating Thomas, a German neurosurgeon specializing in mental disorders, who performed the operation.

Thomas, who left his wife due to his alcoholism, saved Mary’s life with the surgery, but a side effect is that she’s temporarily lost her understanding of words. Although she can still sing, she has to re-learn how to speak. She’s also lost some of her childhood memories, including those of her father, who has passed away. All she has left of him are silent Super 8 home movies. Most of all, Mary wants to hear and recognize her late father’s voice, so she searches for an actor to dub her father’s voice into the films.
