The Grocer's Son

The Grocer's Son

Ten years since Antoine set foot in the town of his birth, his mother asks him to return there to take over his tyrannical father's travelling grocery, while he's recuperating following an illness. Unemployed, Antoine agrees, and convinces his neighbor Claire, whom he has a crush on, to accompany him.

Good natured Claire helps take orders and makes friends with his father's old customers, who are spread through the countryside. Antoine, who has bonded again with his brother, is about to find his equilibrium disturbed when his father returns home and Claire announces her imminent departure for Spain.
