The Fireflies are Gone Overview

In an old industrial town, Léo lazily completes high school, without worrying about her future. When the religious community that promised her a summer job retracts their offer, she reluctantly takes on a job in the municipal park, obtained thanks to her stepfather, whom she treats poorly. Léo holds him responsible for her father’s exile in the Far North. A deposed union leader, her father nonetheless remains her hero. Despite her misanthropy, the girl develops an ambiguous relationship with her guitar teacher, 20 years her senior.
