A candid, revealing portrait of internationally celebrated author Douglas Coupland. In this feature documentary, based on his bestselling book of the same name, Coupland sets out on an unconventional, but heartfelt mission to understand why he feels connected to Canada and to marvel at what makes his homeland unique.

Full of wry humor, nostalgia and insight, the film follows our post-modern tour guide as he seeks out uniquely Canadian objects like stubby beer bottles, Ookpiks and bilingual branding on cereal boxes. These, and other items, form part of a pop art installation Coupland is building called Canada House, which will travel the world.

Touchingly, Coupland displays one single, dirty and torn sock belonging to Terry Fox, expressing Canadians' enduring fascination with this hero. Coupland also speaks openly about the broader distinctions of water and the vastness of the country's landscape, as well as our relationship with our American neighbors to the south.

Along the way, Coupland, one of our great national voices, shares rare, personal stories of his childhood, revealing the universal pull of "home" and family.
