Ping Pong

Seniors from around the word travel to Inner Mongolia to compete in the World over 80s Table Tennis Championships.

Eight competitors from four continents with a combined age of 730, vie for the title. The film interweaves the competition with intimate and candid portraits that explore the hope, passion, and prejudices one meets while growing old. As one competitor says, "It's something to do. Something to keep my mind together."

In the women's division, Terry, 81, has been given a week to live, but she's set her sights on winning. Inge, 89, was once in the dementia ward but her table tennis skills have given her a new direction. Australian legend Dorothy deLow, 100, has become somewhat of a superstar in the world of over-80s ping pong and Texan Lisa Modlich, only 85 and a newcomer to the game, is hoping to get to be world champion. The film shows the tenacity of the human spirit and shows you're never too old for gold.
