One of Many, le vol de l'esprit

In 1964, a four-year-old Native girl, Sally, was ripped from her family by the RCMP and placed in a boarding school. She was not alone: more than 5,000 Native children were placed in residential schools and foster homes. This was practised throughout the 20th century -- the objective was to "kill the Indian in the child." To make them "fit" into Canadian culture, they were cut off from their roots and the children indeed lost their identity with their culture of origin. Forty years later, Sally sets out in a motor home with her two adolescent sons to discover those she never knew; those from whom she was taken.
