The Beatles' song "Norwegian Wood" brings back sad memories for Toru Watanabe (Kenichi Matsuyama). The song reminds him of the 1960s when his best friend Kizuki committed suicide.
Kizuki's girlfriend Naoko and Toru grew close, but their relationship reminds Toru of his friend's death. Also still haunted by Kizuki's memory, Naoko quits college and becomes a recluse.
That's when outgoing, vivacious, and self-confident Midori (Kiko Mizuhara) enters Toru's life. She's a complete contrast to Naoko and Toru has to decide between his future and his past.
