Yvonnette, 90, and her children (played in the fiction film by Andrée Lachapelle, Roy Dupuis, Elise Guilbault and Gilbert Sicotte) murmur confessions and unspoken violence, shared remembrances and veiled bitterness. A masterful narrative voice holds everything together in this discreetly indiscreet exercise, closer to a diary than an essay, touching on the nature of memory and the hazy line between dream and waking.
