I am Femen

During adolescence, Ukrainian Oxana Shachko developed a passion for painting icons. She dreamed of entering the convent, but was faced with strong opposition from her parents, who refused to allow it. Caught between her rage and her desire to change the world, Oxana founded, along with Anna Hutsol and Alexandra Shevchenko, a group of feminist activists called Femen. The object of Femen is to fight for respect of women's bodies and against sexism and corruption of the political class. In their pursuit of this cause, Oxana and her fellow feminists parade topless through Ukraine and across Europe. Victims of police repression and intimidation, they are closely monitored by the secret service, who suspect the group of terrorism.
