Hearts Together: The Journey of a Song

When many musicians from the U.S. cancelled their planned trips to Japan in the aftermath, Bob James stepped forward and went there to perform a benefit concert. Once he was there and saw the devastation first hand, he knew that he had to do more, so created a song called "Put Our Hearts Together". Little did he know that this song, and the journey it would take, would have such a positive impact on the Japanese people. In a miraculous twist of fate a small prefab building in Ofunato, which was used for a rehearsal place for an amateur jazz band called the "Sandpipers ," was one of the only buildings spared from the Tsunami. With the grief caused from the devastation around them, they were still able to find some emotional relief from their music.
