Scarlett Johansson, who plays the lead role of Major in Ghost in the Shell, discusses how while both the physical and emotional aspects of this character were tough to play, the emotional part of Major was the biggest challenge. She reveals how demanding the role was physically and says she ended up in better shape at the end of filming. Scarlett talks about how rare it is to have a character-driven story in this particular genre, and that it was interesting to address so many existential questions regarding the human experience. She then discusses the incredible production design of the film and how it remained loyal in part to the original source material but also stands on its own.
