Annihilation director Alex Garland talks about the difference between working on original screenplays vs original screenplays, including what he likes most about working on something based on another writer's work. He also describes his style as a director as "a non-chaotic version of anarchy" and discusses how he went from being a novelist to a filmmaker, and why he likes filmmaking better than writing books.
